100 Kata for Karate Day 2023

17-Jul-2024

This past weekend on the 14th of October Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate Namibia hosted our annual 100 Kata for Karate Day Fundraiser at the Action Arena Sports Fields in Windhoek!

100 Kata for Karate Day is an international event that was started by Sensei James Pankiewicz of the Asato Dojo in Okinawa, the birthplace of Karate. The event is a worldwide celebration of karate and is annually attended by hundreds of dojos around the world, across every country and style.
Cost: This event is our annual fund-raising event for Traditional Karate.

OGKN has proudly hosted this event in Namibia since 2014, with this year's event being attended by over 60 students from OGKNs Honbu and Shinto Dojos.

As part of the fun this year the students were split into 4 teams, with the ultimate goal being to do the best mass team kata by the end of 100 katas and as always, the event was ended with a special parent/supporter's kata competition!

The funds raised during the event will be used to provide financial support to Instructors (Senseis) for participating in international events like training seminars in South Africa and Japan and to bring their knowledge back to Namibia.

OGKN would like to extend a special thank you to all the parents and family members who came out to support the event!
