The 44th OGKN National Karate Championships were held on 20 September 2025 at the Sport Facilitation Centre in Windhoek. A total of 115 entries were received from the Honbu and Shinto Dojos, with competitors taking part across kata, kumite, and team kata and family team kata events.

One of the highlights of the day was the awarding of the Grand Champion trophies to karateka who managed to win both kata and kumite in their divisions. This year’s champions were:

Stefan van der Merwe

Recognition was also given for many years of commitment to training. The following karateka received Long Training Awards:

René Bader – 20 Years
Thomas Ndara – 10 Years
Darryl Musvamiri – 10 Years
Thomas Mechnig – 10 Years

The Best Sports Karate Performance Awards for the 2024–2025 competition year went to:

Children (Girls): Kelsey von Solms
Children (Boys): Farai Penduka
Cadet & Juniors (Boys): Penda Atshipara
Cadet & Juniors (Girls): Demi von Solms
U21 & Seniors (Male): André Viljoen
Veteran Male: Hermann Hentschel

Athletes who secured gold and silver medals at this event were also selected to represent OGKN at the Namibia Karate Federation National Championships in Walvis Bay on 4 October 2025.
