Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate Namibia (OGKN) proudly celebrates the incredible achievement of Sensei Marion Bause, who recently graded to her 6th Dan at the Bakkies Laubscher 60 years of training anniversary in Cape Town, South Africa on the 26-28th of September 2024.
Sensei Marion’s grading not only solidifies her expertise and years of dedication, but also makes her the highest-ranked female karateka in Namibia.

Her grading was overseen by some of the most senior members of the TOGKF (Traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate Federation) including Sensei Bakkies Laubscher (9th Dan), Sensei Vincent February (8th Dan), and Sensei George Andrews (8th Dan).
The grading took place on the first day of an extensive three-day gasshuku (training seminar), which brought together more than 70 black belts from over 10 countries.

Sensei Marion started karate in 1982 under Sensei Hennie de Vries and has been a key figure in the Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate community ever since.
Today, she continues to pass on her decades of experience, teaching children’s classes at OGKN’s Shinto Dojo in Ludwigsdorf. Her dedication to karate and passion for the art has shaped generations of young karateka, fostering both skill and love for Okinawan Goju-Ryu in Namibia.

We congratulate Sensei Marion on this monumental achievement and look forward to seeing her continue to inspire and guide the next generation karateka.
