Hajime! – Yellow and Orange belts hard at work during the 100 Kata Challenge 2018.

The 100 Kata event, originally organised by James Pankiewicz of Challenge Okinawa has is an international karate highlight and is part of the celebrations for Karate Day (October 25th), that has been set up by James and is held across the globe. This will be the that IOGKF Namibia has participated in the event that now boasts to be in over 250 Dojos and 45 countries.

Students of all different levels line up for the final kata during the 100 Kata Challenge held at OGKN Honbu Dojo in 2019.

2020 will mark the 5th consecutive year that OGKN participates in the International 100 Kata for Karate Day event. The event has not only become a yearly highlight, but is used as one of OGKN’s annual fundraisers. Students are encouraged to get family and friends to sponsor them as motivation to complete their  100 Katas. Proceeds gathered are used to support OGKN’s instructors and students; money raised from the 2019 challenge where used to help send four instructors to the IOGKF International Gishiki in Okinawa, Japan.

OGKN would like to invite all friends and family members of the participants to come out and support the event.

Let’s show the world what Namibia can do!
