OGKN hosts its first ever Central Regional Championships

13-Apr-2022

On the 9th of April OGKN hosted its first-ever Central Regional Championships.

The purpose of the tournament was to provide students the opportunity to participate in their own region whilst at the same time proving their proficiency in karate by competing against their peers. Students from Windhoek and Shinto Dojo participated in the central region, with Walvis Bay hosting their regional championships later this month. The tournaments are once again held under Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate Namibia’s unique rule set, which requires athletes to compete in both of karate’s competition disciplines; Kata and Kumite. The purpose for this is because we firmly believe in grooming all-rounded karateka.

Based on the results of Saturdays Tournament, students will be selected to participate at the Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate National Championships
on the 13th of August. This championships will ultimately determine the 2022 OGKN National Champions, who will then be invited to represent OGKN at the Namibia Karate Federation National Championships in September.
