OGKN attend 2021 IOGKF South Africa Senior Brown and Black Belt Gasshuku

18-Apr-2021

Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate Namibia was once again represented on an international stage this past weekend when four of our senior black belts attended the 2021 IOGKF South Africa Senior Brown and Black Belt Gasshuku.

The gasshuku was hosted by Sensei Bakkies Laubscher, Chief Instructor of IOGKF South Africa and IOGKF Chief Advisor. The exclusive training camp took place LIVE in Sensei Bakkies’ Dojo in Stellenbosch South Africa on the 16th and 17th of April, and streamed worldwide to hundreds of IOGKF International members.

OGKN had four of it’s most senior black belts attend the event, namely;

Sensei Carl van der Merwe

Sensei Hermann Hentschel

Sensei Rowan Carstens

Sensei Reino Hansen

“The Gasshuku was once again of high technical standard. It again proved the essence of karate: you are always a student. Even after 37 years of karate training, I learned new techniques.” – Commented Sensei Carl van der Merwe, Chief Instructor of IOGKF Namibia.

Over the next few months the Sensei’s intend to pass over the new knowledge learnt to their students; thereby extending the reach and impact of these training seminars and insuring that OGKN remains of International standard.
